Monday 24 August 2026
WESTLAND – Rosanne den Drijver has taken an important step forward in her motorsport career. The 17 year old Captain Cruise driver from Naaldwijk has received an invitation to take part in the prestigious F1 Academy Rookie Test, an exclusive talent programme in which promising female drivers from around the world are assessed for the opportunity to secure a seat in F1 Academy.
The invitation marks another international recognition for Den Drijver, who made her Formula 4 debut this season. The Westland based driver made an immediate impression by winning two races in the Nordic 4 Championship at the Swedish circuits of Gelleråsen and Sturup.
On the road to F1 Academy
F1 Academy is the highest international F4 racing series exclusively for female drivers and is regarded as a key development pathway towards the highest levels of motorsport. Only eighteen places are available on the grid each year.
During the Rookie Test, selected talents have the opportunity to showcase their abilities to teams, engineers and driver development specialists. The test plays an important role in assessing drivers for future seats in F1 Academy.
“This is an opportunity that young female racing drivers all over the world dream of,” says Den Drijver. “Being selected feels like a huge recognition of all the hard work we have put in over the past few years. I now have the chance to show what I can do at an international level on the Navarra circuit.”
“This assessment is about much more than speed alone,” Den Drijver explains. “Teams also look at things such as the quality of your feedback, your ability to learn, how you work with engineers and your overall development potential as a driver. Of course, I want to perform as strongly as possible.”

A dream getting closer
With her selection, Den Drijver has taken another significant step towards her ultimate goal of reaching the very top of international motorsport. A place on the F1 Academy grid for 2027 is not yet guaranteed, but the invitation shows that the Westland talent is increasingly being recognised internationally as a driver to watch.
“It is amazing to be given this opportunity,” Den Drijver concludes. “Now it is up to me to show that I belong there.”
Rosanne can count on the support of Westland based partners including Biersteker, Rainbow Growers and ProTech Westland, who help make her development towards international motorsport possible.
